Coming from a Jamaican and Montserratian background, P.K. (Pernell Karl) played at the junior level for the Belleville Bulls (OHL) with two of his brothers, starting in 2005.
P.K. began the 2009-2010 season with the Hamilton Bulldogs (AHL), then went on to the AHL All-Star Game in Portland that year. He earned his first call up to NHL play with the Montréal Canadiens in February and registered his first professional point the next day playing against the Philadelphia Flyers. His accomplishments over the season would earn him the AHL President’s Award.
After he briefly became a restricted free agent at the close of the 2014 season, P.K. negotiated a contract for playing with the Canadiens through to 2022. He has been named alternate captain.
P.K. played internationally for Canada at the World Junor Ice Hockey Champanionships in 2008 in the Czech Republic, and again in 2009 in Ottawa where he was named Tournament All-Star and MVP.
P.K. is also a member of Canada’s 2014 Olympic Men’s hockey team, taking home a gold medal from the games at Soshi, Japan.
