Bio

Kevin’s on-ice career began with the Owen Sound Platers (OHL) and the Ottawa 67’s (OHL) in 1992 before being drafted by the Florida Panthers (NHL) as part of the 1993 NHL Early Draft.

He went on play for the Vancouver Canucks, New York Islanders, and Tampa Bay Lightning before breaking records for the Carolina Hurricanes in the 2002 Stanley Cup Finals.

Kevin joined the New York Rangers as a free agent prior to the 2004-2005 season’s lockout. After becoming an unrestricted free agent he signed with the New Jersey Devils, helping to take the team to the playoffs in 2007.

In 2009 Kevin retired as a player and began a career as a broadcaster, earning the distinction of becoming the first black NHL analyst in history, providing colour commentary for both the NHL Network (US) and Hockey Night in Canada (Canada). In 2011 The Hockey News proclaimed Kevin one of the Top 40 people under 40 with the greatest ongoing influence on the game.
